TOUR OVERVIEW

This two day package will get you out to Thailand's premier National Park as well as seeing Chiang Mai's most prominent temple Doi Suthep.

TOUR DESCRIPTION

Day 1 - Doi Suthep Temple and Hmong village
On pick up from your Chiang Mai hotel we will make our way to the base of Doi Pui Mountain where the road starts to wind its way up towards the temple. You will be dropped at the base of the temple then you will need to make your own way up to the temple under your own steam, most will take the famous naga staircase featuring 306 steps! well worth the effort if you are energetic enough. For those who feel they can not tackle the stairs then there is a lift option which will get you there for a small extra charge. The main feature of this temple is the large central golden chedi which sits in the middle of the main compound as well as it's elevated mountain top location. Walking around to the east side of the temple outside the main compound there is a platform which allows stunning views across the whole city and beyond. Following the temple we will continue further up the mountain to a Hmong village, although well visited by foreign tourists you will still get to see a glimpse of Hmong hill tribe life

Day 2 - Doi Inthanon National Park
Doi Inthanon is one of Thailand's most famous national parks and also home to Thailand's highest mountain Doi Inthanon. The day tour will start when we depart Chiang Mai and make our way out of the city, after one hour we will turn off the main highway where the road will start to make its way up into the national park. Our first stop of the day will be to see Wachiritharn Waterfall, this high cascading falls have a good flow of water all year and its a great introduction to some of the great sites in this national park. Following Wachiritharn Waterfall we will continue our way up further towards Doi Inthanon's peak, we will make stops at The Royal Agricultural Project and then onto the two iconic Royal Pagodas which are situated high up near Inthanon's peak. Cloud allowing you can get some stunning views over the park from this high vantage point by these pagodas. We will then make our way to the peak of Doi Inthanon at 2565 meters, this its Thailand's highest point and Thailand's highest mountain. At the top of the mountain the air can be very cool (sometime very cold) and is home to a very distinct variety of flora which are not found at lower levels in Thailand this flora can be enjoyed on the short Ankha nature trail which is situated at the top of the mountain. On our way down the mountain we will make further stops at small hill tribe market, a Karen village (not Long neck) at a further waterfall (Siritharn) before making our way back to Chiang Mai and transfer to your hotel.
