See the old Siam kingdoms at Sukhothai and Ayutthaya as well as Kanchanaburi on this 3 day Chiang Mai to Bangkok experience.
 

TOUR DESCRIPTION


Day 1
You will be picked up from your Chiang Mai hotel and we will commence the three day trip to Bangkok by traveling south towards the city of Lampang In Lampang we will make our first stop of the day at Wat Chedi Lampang Luang one of Lampang's most important temples. We will continue the journey towards Sukhothai, on arrival we will spend the rest of the day visiting the old temples at Sukhothai Historical Park. Late afternoon we will depart for the short journey to the city of Phitsanulok where you will spend the night. To fill the evening we recommend a trip to the Phitsanulok night market situated nearby the river.

Day 2
You will be picked up from your Phitsanulok hotel and we will visit Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathal and a small Buddha casting foundry where you can see the manufacture of metal Buddha images. We will continue the drive for around 3 and a half hours to the city of Ayutthaya Siam's old capital city, here you will spend the rest of the day exploring many of the old temple buildings and city remnents we will depart Ayutthaya for the final drive of the day to the city of Kanchanaburi where you will spend the second night.

Day 3
you will be picked up at your Kanchanaburi hotel and the days first stop will be a visit to the informative Thailand Burma Railway Center, the best museum and resource to learn about the construction of the Death Railway and River Kwai Bridge, built by the thousands of POW's during the second world war. Opposite the museum you can visit the well kept cemetery home to the graves of just some of the thousands who died during the railways construction. After a visit to the war cemetery, you will enjoy a scenic long-tail boat trip along the river to the famous Bridge over the River Kwai. After lunch it will be time to board the train for a ride on the railway. The railway trip will afford great scenic views of the countryside and river and you will cross many of the old bridges and viaducts. At the end of the train ride you will be able to walk the Wampoo viaduct and visit the small Krasae Cave. The tour will finish when we transfer your chosen Bangkok hotel.

Groups
This tour is conducted as a privately escorted tour only you will be supplied with your own tour guide and private vehicle . Sorry there are no group departures for this programme.

Transport

Transfer
This tour includes pick up from your Chiang Mai Hotel and drop off at your Bangkok hotel. Please be ready and waiting in the lobby of your hotel before the pick up time specified on your booking confirmation. Please specify your hotel and its address on the booking form. If you do not have a hotel booked we can still process your booking but please inform us of your hotel at least 3 days prior to departure. For private tours we can arrange transfers to and from all hotels (an extra charge will usually be incurred for outlying hotels). If there are any issues with your specified hotel we will inform you before we ask for payment and process your booking.

This tour is conducted with an English speaking guide. The guides will be TAT licensed (Tourist Authority of Thailand)

Insurance
A limited amount of accident insurance is provided to cover some medical bills in case of an injury but it is advised that you have your own comprehensive accident insurance.

Dress Codes and what to wear

• The Northern and Central Thailand climate is hot all year round. Wear light, cool clothes: Shorts (or long pants if you prefer), T shirt and a sun hat are ideal attire.

• On this tour you will be visiting Buddhist temples, respectful and neat dress is always appreciated at temples, please wear knee length shorts and a shirt which covers your shoulders

• Please be prepared for the occasional shower, luckily i rainfall is mostly confined to short showers rather than prolonged rainfall. A lightweight easily packable raincoat is an ideal precaution

• No swim wear is required on this tour

Fitness
Exertion levels are light on this 3 day tour with a few short walks between attractions. There are steps and slopes
