TOUR DESCRIPTION
Day 1
You will be picked up from your Chiang Mai guest house or hotel and we will drive towards north out of the city. The guide will be making a stop at the local Thai market to stock up on some supplies for the trek into the hills. You will continue the drive to a Hmong hill tribe village where you will have lunch before embarking on the trek. On this first day you will trek around 4 hours, along the way you will collect some jungle herbs which are useful for the elephants. It will not be all walking on this first afternoon as you will get to stop off at a refreshing waterfall to cool off from the afternoon exertions and vist a Lahu hill tribe village. The trek will continue until our arrival at the elephant camp which will be our overnight destination. Late afternoon you will get to feed the elephants before kicking back at the camp and relaxing with your guide and fellow trekkers. Dinner will be provided.

Day 2
Enjoy your morning and get ready for a nourishing breakfast at the elephant camp. Next, it will be time to get involved with the elephants. You will be given some information on the Asian elephant and be instructed about the best and safest ways to interact with these lovely large creatures. Along with feeding the elephants you will get to take the elephants to the river for their daily bath. After eating this is the elephants next favorite pastime! Elephant welfare
The elphants you will care for on this tour live in a small elephant camp beside the Mae Tang River. Blugecko believe
the elephant owners provide a good standard of elephant welfare but please note the following:
• On numerous inspection trips we have never seen a bull hook or a bull hook being used by the elephant owners, however the owner does inform us
a bull hook is kept to hand for emergency use only to ensure the safety of the client
• No riding is done on the elephants here however clients are allowed to climb upon the elephants backs during the bathing session in the river and clients are allowed to sit up on the elephants neck briefly.
if you have any further questions on the elephant welfare on this trip please ask us.
