TOUR OVERVIEW

This is the perfect tour to extensively experience Northern Thailand. Spend 3 days living close to nature and getting acquainted with local hill tribes. This tour will give tour-goers a real opportunity to develop a knowledge about Lahu Hill tribe customs as well as to embrace Northern Thailand jungles. You will also enjoy an elephant ride and the Mae Tang River where you will take part in white water rafting.

TOUR DESCRIPTION

Day 1
Your 3-day escaped will begin with the trekking guide greeting you at your hotel or guest house in Chiang Mai. We will then proceed to drive out of the city towards the picturesque Mae Tang district. We will stop on the way at a local market in order to stock up on supplies we will need for the tour. Our next stop will be at an elephant camp, where you will have the opportunity to ride one of these beautiful animals through neighboring scenic trails, after which we will break for lunch near the camp. You will then start your trek through the forest and engage in a 3-hour hike up difficult trails which will bring you to a lovely village located at the top of the mountain. This Lahu community is where we’ll spend the night. You will have the rest of the afternoon and the evening to wander through the village and mingle with the locals. Your evening meal will be prepared by your guide and you will be able to simply kick back and relax with your fellow tour-goers.

Day 2
You will enjoy your breakfast in the village before embarking on your morning trek. The jungle hike, which will last 1.5 hour, will lead us to a waterfall where we’ll enjoy a swim before having our lunch break. After lunch, you will trek through farmlands, forests, foothills and areas inhabited by various hill tribes. We will reach the jungle camp where we’ll spend the night. This will be a great place to soak in the calm nature which surrounds you.

Day 3
The wake-up call will be early, giving you time to appreciate the cool air sweeping over the forest as the village awakens. We will have breakfast at the bamboo camp and embark on a morning trek to the river, where we’ll have lunch. After lunch, you will be briefed on certain safety aspects of white water rafting. You will then proceed with a 5km white water expedition (the river is at its most energetic between May and November, but it’s still fun all year round). You will change to bamboo rafts at a point where the river quiets down. The last leg of rafting will be a 15-minute slow ride during which you will be able to simply kick back and relax as you admire the surrounding forests. You can also help out and push the raft along with bamboo poles. This will lead us to our pick up point where we’ll start our drive back to Chiang Mai
