TOUR OVERVIEW
Trek in the Mae Tang area and enjoy an overnight stay in a Lahu hill tribe community. Experience the hill tribe way of life and develop a strong bond with fellow trekkers and take part in a white water rafting. This two day tour is an excellent introduction to hill tribe customs in the Mae Tang district. |
TOUR DESCRIPTION
Day 1
You will be picked up from your Chiang Mai guest house or hotel and we will drive towards the Mae Tang district. On route, it will be necessary to make a stop at a local market in order for your guide to purchase certain items for your trek. We will then proceed to the drop off point and the start of the trek. A break will be had for lunch before embarking on a challenging 3-hour trek via jungle trails up to a Lahu village located at a mountain top. This will be our overnight stay location. Here, you can simply relax for the remainder of the afternoon while your guide proceeds with dinner preparations. Simply enjoy the hills and mingle with fellow trekkers.
Day 2
Waking up in the fresh cool mountain air is a memorable experience. Enjoy your morning and get ready for a nourishing breakfast in the village. Next, we will embark on a morning trek which will bring you to a waterfall; a perfect spot for a swim in the refreshing waters. We will resume the hike through farmlands and jungle areas up to the river. Here, we will break for lunch before taking part in a 5km white water raft ride down the river. Please note that the river is most active between the months of May and November, although the experience is fun year round. At a point where the river calms down, we will transfer to bamboo rafts in order to enjoy the remainder of the journey in a slow moving and relaxing fashion. You may simply kick back and enjoy the jungle as it passes by like a large natural display. You can also help along with the pushing of the raft. After your river ride, you will board a vehicle and head back towards Chiang Mai. |
